About

Mike van der Vord

I possess over 25 years' experience as a professional photographer, and I have worked with a wide variety of subjects including weddings, fashion, advertising, corporate and editorial photography.

A graduate of the London College of Printing with a Diploma in Photography, I spent my early photography career primarily working as a fashion photographer, shooting for catalogues, ad agencies and magazines including Vogue, Harpers and Queen. I then went on to set up two photographic studios in Chelsea and Battersea, where I expanded my body of work to include high-profile corporate and picture library clients, as well as continuing my editorial, advertising and studio photography.

During the nineties, my work evolved and I began to specialise in location photography for corporate and advertising clients, shooting abroad in locations such as South Africa and USA for Empire Stores, St. Petersburg for the Kirov Ballet, as well as Thailand, Cyprus and Mallorca for other commercial clients.

Having spent a great deal of time abroad, I decided to focus on working closer to my home base in Croydon/London, and my primary focus today is social photography, with an emphasis on portraiture and weddings. In addition, I also continue to shoot corporate PR, picture library, still life and fashion photography.

Drawing upon such a wide variety of experience gained over many years of working with clients of all types, I bring a unique set of skills to my work. Whether it's a wedding or a still-life shoot, I hope my passion for capturing the beauty of the world around us shines through in the resulting images.
